Youth Arts Day and Music Fest Now Accepting Submissions

YOUTH ARTS DAY & MUSIC FEST
Sunday, April 26, 2009 10 am – 5 pm

Co-hosted by Students Offering Support and the Deering Estate at Cutler, Youth Arts Day and Music Fest is a community collaboration celebrating youth artists and creating awareness for the rich emerging resources Miami-Dade County has to offer.

“We want to invite youth artists – of all ages and abilities – either as individual artists or as school groups to participate in our Youth Arts Day on Sunday, April 26th,” says Jennifer Tisthammer, Exhibits and Collections coordinator. “We have opportunities for visual artists, performance (choir, ensemble, dance, theatre) artists, and literary artists.  We are most deficient in the literary arts participants at present.”

Youth Arts Day and Music Fest features a month long visual and literary art exhibition as well as a day long series of youth performance art on Sunday, April 26th. A 5K Dash from the Estate to the community and back to the Estate will invite our neighbors in and kick off the day’s activities. Founding members of the Living Artist Concert Series and Artists in Residence will act as mentors availab le for portfolios reviews, exhibits and performances. Youth volunteers will host a Kid’s Zone in the Palm Grove with activities, face painting, eco-art projects and much more! We invite community organizations serving our youth to get involved. Youth visitors are given free admittance to the Estate.

COSTS
