Over on the West Coast, where there are oodles of programs for young people, YO! Youth Outlook Multimedia helped 12 young adults learn about themselves and how to succeed when dealing with the complications of finances, relationships, and the video editing program Final Cut Pro. www.youthoutlook.org www.newamericamedia.org
Why can’t there be programs like this in South Florida? Well, actually, there is one that we know of called Youth Expressions, which offers a holistic approach to helping at-risk youth that includes Hip Hop Life Coaching, Yoga, Martial Arts and Technology to help our members develop the skills to cope with the daily challenges and stresses faced by teenagers and young adults.
As Florida continues to make cuts in education, individuals will have to pick up the slack.
