Scriptwriting Contest
This short film edited by Miami-based multimedia artist Christopher Moramarco just BARELY begins to scratch the surface of a story. It’s kinda like the montage section of a feature-length film summing up the emotions of two characters who have a history…but it’s up to you, the writer, to dream up that history with DIALOGUE.

They’re all staring at you…wait. I already wrote that.

Boobs, Pants and Politics at The Standard Hotel
I do my lame little piece so that whoever goes after me has no choice to sound like a rock star comedian…and sure enough, big cojones Mike gets up and puts us in stitches over a few stories he tells about the size of his pants at the “cusp age of 34,” which means he talks frequently about refinancing mortgages while reminiscing the much funnier days of his 19th year as a camp counselor selling massage oils to 11-year-old boys.

Recently a friend of mine went to the emergency room after he sliced his hand with a knife. All he needed was a couple of stitches. He didn’t have health insurance.
When he arrived, he asked about how much the stitches would cost. The front desk clerk said she couldn’t tell him, that he [...]
Chemistry For Writers
by Melanie Feliciano
I liked science when I was in high school. Chemistry, especially, because I liked the periodic table of elements and the formulas we had to solve. H + O2 = H2O. It was a superficial obsession, really. I just liked the look of letters inside a mathematical formula. I was glad that [...]
